EMPOWERING FARMWORKER YOUTH

"TO ENSURE THAT EVERY FARMWORKER CHILD BE PROVIDED ACCESS TO A QUALITY EDUCATION, THE ARTS, AND TECHNOLOGY FOR A BRIGHTER FUTURE."

Welcome to season three, episode two of A Passion to Serve. I am fortunate enough to be a board member with the Association of Farmworker Opportunity Programs (AFOP), whose mission is to improve the quality of life for migrant and seasonal farmworkers and their families by promoting self-sufficiency through employment and training opportunities, educational attainment, and health and safety.

In 2020 AFOP hosted a series of Facebook Live Events that covered a variety of topics that were relevant to the migrant and seasonal farmworker population. AFOP has been kind enough to let me broadcast their recordings on A Passion to Serve. This week's episode features Mexican American Council (MAC) CEO Eddie Garza, who discusses winning strategies to empower farmworker youth.

Please support AFOP's Children in the Fields Campaign (CIFC) which is dedicated to ensuring that farmworker children are protected and given an opportunity to succeed in life. CIFC is committed to accomplishing this goal by educating the public, advocating for educational programs for farmworker children, and supporting fair living wages for all farmworkers.
